First, the little Redmond parade downtown on Saturday morning. She was a little unsure of all the LOUD sirens and horns, but seemed happy to get a ball and a sucker! It was fun to see some friends in the parade.
Second, we went to the fair Saturday night. Aspen loved all the animals and practicing the sounds they make. My favorite was a HUGE fluffy rooster ironically named "tinkerbell." Then we went to the rodeo, which was packed! We couldn't find a seat but ended up actually standing pretty close to the action, which was really cool (and scary).
Third, our most favorite, was the Buckaroo Breakfast on Sunday morning. This has been around for dozens of years. My mom's side of the family has been attending for ages. This was our third year at the breakfast and definitely not our last. The food is fabulous, and the atmosphere is fun. Our not so small town feels like a warm, friendly little community. Cowboy hats, boots, and big buckles are the norm, rather than the exception. Musicians play country favorites, while local volunteers serve a delicious hearty breakfast consisting of sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, and fry bread- my favorite! People waiting in line respond to a woman yelling "yee" with an enthusiastic "HAW!"
Ahhhhhh...I love it. It's become a family tradition for us and it's safe to say that we will try to go every year, even if we end up moving away from central Oregon someday.
I have a picture of Aspen every year now at the breakfast. I'll have to dig out the photos from the last two years.
I cannot wait until next year! :)
Big white sunglasses are the coolest!
Scored a football and a sucker at the parade
