His music

Oh, how God wants you to hear HIS music. It will race your heart and stir your tears. You want to journey to the stars? He can take you there. You want to lie down in peace? His music can soothe your soul.
But first, he's got to get rid of that country-western stuff. (Forgive me Nashville, only an example.) And so he begins tossing the CDs. A friends turns away. The job goes bad. Your spouse doesn't understand. The church is dull. One by one he removes the options until all you have left is God.
He would do that??? Absolutely. If he must silence every voice, he will. He wants you to hear his music.

She can change diapers!!!

Photobucket

Here's Aspen and her beloved baby Stella. She worked for a good 10 minutes putting this diaper on Stella. And finally, success! She held Stella up and the diaper stayed on. She was proud and loudly proclaimed "Look! Stella diaper!!!"
So, the diaper isn't very functional as it's not covering the, um, right parts, but at least now she is SUPER STELLA da da da da DA DA!

Karyn Sharin'

This is something new I've been wanting to add to my blog. If you know me, you know my interests include shopping, fashion, make-up, decorating, etc. etc. etc. I love bargains and sales. When I come across something good in one of these areas I want to tell everyone about it. Soooooooo, I am going to start doing "Karyn Sharin'" in which I will "share" good finds, tips, and advice in the above mentioned categories. Hope you like it! :)

This is the logo I will use every time I post something like this.

The fairest of them all...

The first weekend in August is Deschutes County fair time. This year Aspen was old enough to enjoy some of the festivities!

First, the little Redmond parade downtown on Saturday morning. She was a little unsure of all the LOUD sirens and horns, but seemed happy to get a ball and a sucker! It was fun to see some friends in the parade.

Second, we went to the fair Saturday night. Aspen loved all the animals and practicing the sounds they make. My favorite was a HUGE fluffy rooster ironically named "tinkerbell." Then we went to the rodeo, which was packed! We couldn't find a seat but ended up actually standing pretty close to the action, which was really cool (and scary).

Third, our most favorite, was the Buckaroo Breakfast on Sunday morning. This has been around for dozens of years. My mom's side of the family has been attending for ages. This was our third year at the breakfast and definitely not our last. The food is fabulous, and the atmosphere is fun. Our not so small town feels like a warm, friendly little community. Cowboy hats, boots, and big buckles are the norm, rather than the exception. Musicians play country favorites, while local volunteers serve a delicious hearty breakfast consisting of sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, and fry bread- my favorite! People waiting in line respond to a woman yelling "yee" with an enthusiastic "HAW!"
Ahhhhhh...I love it. It's become a family tradition for us and it's safe to say that we will try to go every year, even if we end up moving away from central Oregon someday.
I have a picture of Aspen every year now at the breakfast. I'll have to dig out the photos from the last two years.
I cannot wait until next year! :)

Big white sunglasses are the coolest!

Scored a football and a sucker at the parade

All done!

Yay! Fair time!

She liked the kids - ha ha!

Um...you've got a little something hanging out of your mouth

Aspen's 2nd "cupcake" birthday party!

Due to many requests...I'm finally getting around to posting pictures from Aspen's 2nd birthday party that we had in mid-May. I decided to do a cupcake theme, and had so much fun putting it together. The main activity was decorating cupcakes, which seemed to be a hit! It was an awesome day and we enjoyed celebrating our daughter with our family and friends.
I still can't believe my little Cupcake Cutie is 2!!!
